Shirley Cahute had many meaningful roles: daughter, sister, aunt, friend, teacher and guidance counselor – she was loved by family, friends and students alike. Shirley died peacefully in the early morning hours of Wednesday, April 11th, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Health Centre with her brother and sister-in-law by her side. She was 65-years-old. Born and raised in Toronto, Shirley attended Alderwood Collegiate Institute, graduated from the University of Western Ontario and obtained her Masters at University of Toronto. She became a teacher at Brampton’s St. Anthony School and later retired from her position as the head of the guidance department at St. Augustine Catholic Secondary School in 2005. Shirley cherished her time with friends and family – she managed to whisk away for cottage weekends, while always making sure to be¬ around for birthdays, holidays and family dinners. She will forever be remembered as a bright light – who always looked her best. Predeceased by her parents Ann and Nestor, Shirley’s cheerful nature leaves a void in the many lives she touched. She will be sorely missed by her brother Bob, sister-in-law Bernice, nieces Meghann and Larissa, nephew Stephen, great-niece Addison, extended family, many friends and former students. Visitation to be held at Ridley Funeral Home (3080 Lake Shore Blvd. W) Monday, April 16th from 2 to 4 p.m. & 7 to 9 p.m. (prayers at 7 p.m.). Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows (3055 Bloor St. W) on Tuesday, April 17th, 2018 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Park Lawn Cemetery. Messages of Condolence may be placed at
