Samuel 'Sam' Johnston
October 19, 1920 - March 27, 2017
In the 97th year of a long and active life. Survived by Frances, his loving wife of 73 years, devoted children Barry (Hilary) and Janice, grandchildren Ryan (Mélanie), Brendan and great-grandson Noah. He is survived by brother Jimmy and pre-deceased by brothers Eddie and Jack. A veteran of the RCAF during WWII, Sam was a retired employee of the TTC. Gifted at making and repairing almost anything, he generously shared these skills with family and friends and contributed to the Alderwood Community as a founder of Girls' Softball and the Alderwood Teenage Hockey Leagues. He loved the outdoors and explored Canada extensively with Frances following his retirement. A dedicated walker, he was a familiar figure in the Alderwood area and the Six Points area in recent years. He loved to chat with anyone he met. Cremation has already occurred. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society and the Hospital for Sick Children. Messages of Condolence may be placed at RidleyFuneralHome.com.
